Recently, a rejection letter issued by high-end brand KFC to a woman’s job application has gone viral and is regarded as ‘The most cringe rejection ever’ by the viewers. The letter went viral on social media due to all the wrong reasons of rejection mentioned on it.

Sophie Corcoran who applied for a job in Durham’s fast-food chain and got rejected shared a glimpse of it on Twitter. She was infuriated as she got rejected for reasons that were wrong and shared that the fast-food chain rejected her job application due to lack of experience even though she had worked with the brand for two years in the past.

The insides of the letter had drawn the attention of many. The letter was full of chicken-related puns and contained nothing formal. She revealed that the letter had the subject ‘Team Member application at Thinford KFC’ and it further continued as they wrote that they were thankful for her application and they were pleased to see her join the flock keenly but unfortunately, they added that she did not have the skills and the secret recipe that the Colonel was looking for.

Using further puns, they added “We’d love to hear from you again when you have some more experience under your wing, so please give us a cluck if you would like to apply in the future. Best Wishes, team KFC.” Due to the weird creativity of the rejection letter, it attracted the attention of many and went viral with many people liking and commenting on it.

As the letter was not a monotonous one and had many unique elements to it, people started judging it as more than a rejection letter and it fetched tremendous response. One person tweeted that without an offense to the woman that was the most hilarious rejection letter he has ever come across. Another commented that irrespective of what the woman felt, the person who made the template for the email deserved appreciation beyond limits.

Though many were fascinated by the humor of the letter, the were a lot of people who sympathized with the woman and supported her as she was rejected for all the wrong reasons which were presented in a sugar-coated manner. Someone found the letter way too inappropriate and commented that all those puns could have been used to offer a job to the seeker instead of using it for writing a rejection letter and hurting people’s emotions.

A highly critical person tagged KFC and commented that how can a brand so established be so informal in their response, it’s not the correct way of treating people and they should sort the wrongdoings first. While a person added, “The most cringe rejection letter ever, like they are addressing a kid.”

In response to the criticism, a KFC spokesperson replied that the brand was sorry that Sophie didn’t get the job, but they highly respect the feeling of hurt which comes from a job rejection, and therefore they claim to be a little softer while replying to the rejected applicants. He further informed people that they have always motivated people to re-apply for job positions if they are re-available in the future and still have the keenness to join the team.”
