Every working person has a specific time when they need to reach office. Sometimes they get late, and this can cause a problem in the workplace. Similarly, no one likes to stay back even after the working hour. Sometimes when the workplace offers to pay for extra time, then employees agree to stay back.

Although many people follow this timing but a woman was fired from her job when she reached the office on time and left after her shift was over. Her boss has called this as “bare minimum.” The woman has shared her story anonymously and shared her experience. Her boss asks her to work overtime up to eight hours during certain shifts.

The woman went ahead and added that if she were on a salary, then she would have worked the extra hours. But works on a “pay per hour” system; hence she does not want to work overtime. She further added how she asked the company to invoice for every work that she worked on, but the boss refused. After a short period, the boss fired her and said she was not a “team player.”

She spoke to Reddit and shared how her boss said she does bare minimum work, and turning up and leaving right on time does not suffice. The woman said she did not understand what the boss meant as she was not a permanent employee and was kept on an hourly basis contract. She further added, “The company decides to throw a three-day event fully catered and lived streamed by a crew of professionals and asks me to come to cover the event on social media and to take photos of everything - arriving an hour early and leaving an hour later.”

The woman did it as she wanted to show she works hard, but the boss wanted her to stay even after the 3-day gala. This means that on the 3rd day, she had to work from 8 am till midnight, and half of the time would be unpaid. She went ahead and asked her boss if she could bill the extra hours and take time off the next week to balance it. The boss became upset and said she was not doing good financially and the employee was not being a good team player. She further added she did not need the service anymore and fired the employee.

After the woman shared her story with Reddit, people commented on how she “dodged a bullet.” Many people came forward and called the company a scam and the boss a “con artist.” People said how she should find a real company, and this company sounded shady. Another person added how the former boss sounded like a con artist, and if she had money to pay for the live stream and catering, then she could have paid her as well. Lastly, another person said how the employee is now aware of the secret of the boss. The boss earns money by cheating and not paying the employees for their work.
