This Man’s Birthday Surprise For Partner Went Hilariously Wrong

Daniel Varey purchased a gin glass for his fiancée Hayley Woodward’s 30th birthday and thought it would be a thoughtful touch to have a message engraved into it. He tried to add a ‘happy 30th birthday princess’ to the keepsake glass but accidentally ended up engraving it with the delivery instructions instead.

And the “very dopey” Daniel only realized what had happened the moment Hayley opened the gift and “burst into tears of laughter.” Self-employed skincare consultant Hayley admitted that although she expected Daniel to slip up somewhere along the line, his mistake “brightened her day.”

In delicate white writing, the glass read: “Can we have it delivered before Monday if possible as that’s her 30th. Nice one” – oops. Sky customer service representative Daniel didn’t understand why the engraving company hadn’t flagged the odd message – or the fact he sent them a delivery note saying ‘happy 30th birthday princess.’

The couple laughed their heads off straight away they saw the funny side of it. “It was supposed to say ‘Happy 30th Birthday Princess. Love you millions xxx’. There was a page that asked what anyone wanted on the glass and below there was an ‘add a note for the business’ section. Daniel had mixed them up.

He only realized his mistake the morning his fiancé opened up the package. Daniel continued that she was over the moon when she saw the gift bag, then when she opened it she started crying. She had tears coming out of her eyes. She was laughing her head off. It wasn’t cheap – it cost £24.99. Daniel got it to be gift wrapped too.

The couple has decided to keep the glass forever. A symbol and a memory to keep for her 30th birthday. But that’s not all – he also managed to send her a card with the wrong name on it too. But despite the slip-ups, she was “over the moon” after she saw that he had treated her to a new tablet and a Spanish holiday booked for 2021.

Hayley opened the gift in front of her mum on the morning of her birthday, after already opening her birthday card from Daniel which read ‘my one and only, happy birthday Harry’. She said that it has brightened up a few people’s days – including her own. Daniel’s very dopey. She had a sneaky suspicion that there was something funny in the bag. He said she wasn’t allowed to open it until her mum came outside.

She had to go to the front door, her mum was on the other side of the street. Her face was a picture. She explained that she was expecting a ‘happy birthday’ or ‘happy 30th’ – but ‘nice one’ at the end is what got her. He also got me a Moonpig card and had no idea of his mistake because it was addressed to her, but then she opened the card, and apparently, she is called Harry now.

Though she is extremely thankful he managed to print her name correctly on the holiday booking.
